I don’t have a Ted Talk, I have a Woods Walk.

INTUITION VS ANXIETY 🙌🏻 a favorite topic of mine and one of the most helpful things I’ve ever freaking figured out.

Once upon a time ya girl had a knock down drag out panic attack on the daily. We’re talking full physical symptoms, in public, at home, you name it. We’re talking medicated. We’re talking shame, embarrassment, the works.

Now I do still lean more towards anxious if I’ve overloaded my plate, but the attacks are gone because I catch it as it’s happening and choose to ALLOW my body to process.

Anxiety is many feelings and emotions flooding the body all at once. The body moves into panic mode because it doesn’t feel like it can pick which one to feel through first.

Intuition drops in like a little fairy that gives you no reason why, it just demands that you trust. The most you go with it and allow the reason to come later, the more obvious and friendly she will be. 🧚🏻

To be a business owner these days is to be online. You don’t know how much it means to me when you all have been reaching out this week about the new content we’ve been putting out. I say “we” because it literally takes a village at this point. What you don’t see is the HOURS of time @eric.liffrig and I put into B-roll (a new term I’ve just learned), coming up with ideas, dealing with fuck ups aka me not knowing what to say…

Social media is toooough, obviously for younger folks and especially for those of us who remember a life without it, but were still on it too young and were rating our top 8 friends. It is the place where we have compared ourselves, edited ourselves, found out we were no longer friends with someone… it’s also a place where we’ve made connections, made money, reconnected…

There’s a massive emotional landscape on here with a ton of different energy at play at all times. Over the last almost 3 years of being self employed, and 5 years of doing this work, I’ve struggled with consistency, cringe and “why didn’t they like it!?”.

This year I’m dedicating my heart to putting all of that down. I just want to have fun again!!!! I just want to show you who I really am and what I really believe in. I want to make friends and connections. I want to be silly and playful and funny.

As many of you know, our big boy has seen it all. He’s taken reiki and yoga trainings with me, he mediates with us, he takes his job as mine and Piper’s protector VERY seriously. He is high maintenance - and yes, I understand he’s absolutely my mirror 😂

He’s the reason I’ve been able to help so many other paw-parents… as his personality shifted post-pandemic further into the role of absolute protector, I had to find a way to communicate with him beyond commands. Now at 8 he’s the best he’s ever been. My big baby bad boy 🖤

This time the mirror pic includes the dog that I keep tripping over, the humidifier and the god forsaken CHAIR that only serves as a clothing dumping ground at the moment. It’s just the truth right now.

I really loved pretending like my life on here is *aesthetic af* and like I only have either professional photos or photos of me doing cool shit - but like, that’s not IT.

If there’s anything I’ve learned in meeting my goals or manifesting something, it’s that you need to have the nervous system to HOLD whatever it is you want. That could be material, emotional, relational, financial… you name it. That’s why in so many teachings we are guided to first feel what it could feel like to do or have or achieve that thing.

Today I’m standing here with a full plate. I have two businesses, I’m growing a team, a retreat is happening in a few weeks and then there’s 2 more I’m in charge of this year. I’m creating a 200hr training. My marriage is more healthy than it’s ever been and we’re in discussions of home ownership. I have the most reciprocal friendships and amazing women in my life. I’m teaching yoga and working with kids again! I love it. I love all of it.

And then Sunday happened and my body sat down for a moment too long. My body felt “it” - anxiety, fear, self doubt… you name it.

I’m in the process of making large decisions. Just as I write this there is a higher self within me that immediately wants to correct my own ass and say “I’m so grateful to be in the position to make these large decisions!”. I am grateful that voice is there but today my body feels more like… how the fuck do I make all of these large decisions!?

The answer is… Idfk, I just have to do it. I KNOW I can hold it. I KNOW if it doesn’t work out, something else will. I trust I’m being guided and that if these opportunities weren’t for me, they wouldn’t be available and I wouldn’t be so excited about them. All I can do is go for a walk, call a girlfriend and treat myself to a mani pedi. The only decision I have to make today is to take the best care of my inner self.

I still want to talk about brain health today and all the things I do and why I do them.

I became slightly obsessed in a scared kind of way when I was about 12 days into not drinking back in 2019…

***Side note here - if your healer didn’t have a serious party girl/addiction phase, is she really a healer? LOL but… actually.

Anyways, I stopped drinking, I had to. And when my brain began to clear up, I also realized just how unwell she had become. It wasn’t just the panic attacks, depression, reactivity and rage (🥴) - it was the brain fog, lack of memory, literally forgetting WORDS. It scared the ever loving shit out of me and I hadn’t even begun therapy for CPTSD yet. DAYUM!

Since then I obviously have many reasons to take care of my brain. Some being that I want to be the best I can be for my work, I simply really love myself, I care about my health and wellbeing. I don’t drink because I am a bad drinker, I don’t eat crap because I don’t like feeling like crap.

But the biggest reason is because I know what it feels like to feel mentally UNWELL AF. I hate feeling mentally unwell af. So here’s some of what I do:

• eat right, move daily, prioritize being outside
• microdose 5x/week
• ashwagandha + magnesium
• @foursigmatic mushroom coffee
• meditate, yoga, barre
• energy healing!!!
• journal
• work with other healers often
• practice radical honesty + have hard convos
• follow + work within my monthly cycle

Can you tell from this list just how much brain healing comes by way of the body?!

I share this because understanding the biological effects on my brain due to CTPSD + years of bad habits really helped to heal the shame. It also helped me to reorganize my lifestyle so that I could heal in ways I enjoyed.

If you know my journey you may know that a lens I look through often is the one of the brain; its health, its plasticity, foods and supplements and plant medicines that heal and open it. I take a lot of versions of mushrooms, I hang my body upside down, I stopped eating what I now have to consider “poison” (processed foods) all in the name of my favorite part of my and your body - the brain.

My brain is what lets me see through this reality and into others. It’s how I know what playlist to give you and what words to say when you’re deep into a visualization of meeting your inner child or future self. It’s what lets me see and tell you aspects of your future. It’s how I see and hear and speak to dead people.

I love my brain and all that she lets me do.

Right now I’m refining an older, more masculine part of her to build my second born, @spellworks_advisory - and it’s been unfolding parts of me I tucked away and left in corporate America. I’m asking a lot of my brain right now to be both strategic and soft, to learn new things, to look at old wounds of learned helplessness and be honest about where I’ve decided “I can’t”.

It’s literally the other side of the spectrum I’m playing in right now majority of the time, so I want to just come back here and say thank you to the clients who are working with me during this time. You’ve given my brain a chance to play, to sit in her most confident state of intuition. It often feels like a break when I’m working a session and for that I’m so grateful.

How life feels right now —

Fun and playful while also dancing with the imperfect. I have to have complete trust in the love that is holding me up… and there is so much love.

These last couple of weeks I have found my fearless strength again — finally.

I picked up what I almost threw away; a chance to build something larger than myself. It’s taken so much courage, time, effort and surrender.

Most importantly, I’ve had to admit again and again there’s so much I don’t know HOW to do. With each moment that I accept an imperfection of mine, someone swoops in to catch me with their own expertise.

As it turns out, gratitude CAN keep you afloat.

Greetings from my cold weather nest of undoing and in-JOY-ing ❄️

I’ve leaned into the undoing of fear that once wrapped its fingers around my relaxation weeks surrounding the holidays. It had a voice of pressure, producing, lack.

In some ways, I’m grateful for that voice because she knows I am soooo happy when I work and create and I think part of her wants me to feel my best. But most of her was pushing me into this strange competition with my own potential that I was told WOULD fuel me, but never really did.

This year, as I’ve stated before… I leaned into my rebellious “fuck it” and that has easily morphed into a mantra of “it’s my holiday too!”

I’ve leaned into the deserving, the warmth of family time between NY/NC/SC and released the pressure. I’ve slept in, I’ve crafted, I’ve read, I’ve only worn jeans like once.

And now as I look to what society considers the “New Year” I finally feel 0 pressure.

It’s taken me a few years to move beyond the logic of the new year really beginning in the Spring and into the bodily knowing.

I do however believe it can be fun to use 1/1 as a check in, a reflection, a place to land and recalibrate. I’m not looking for wild resolutions or intense expectations - but I am very willing to play with my Capricorn stellium (my other stellium is in Leo!) during Capricorn season.

🕊️ The virtual workshop I will be leading on the morning of 1/1 is steeped in the understanding that you CAN lean into the winter season. We will be exploring the many facets of why our society pushes us to “become a new person at midnight!” (🥴) and where those expectations have lodged themselves in our self judgements. There will be room to journal on 2024 and simply begin to feel into the energies of 2025. Of course there will be energy healing, fun music and allllll the other good stuff.

I do however believe it can be fun to use 1/1 as a check in, a reflection, a place to land and recalibrate. I’m not looking for wild resolutions or intense expectations - but I am very willing to play with my Capricorn stellium (my other stellium is in Leo!) during Capricorn season.

🕊️ The virtual workshop I will be leading on the morning of 1/1 is steeped in the understanding that you CAN lean into the winter season. We will be exploring the many facets of why our society pushes us to “become a new person at midnight!” (🥴) and where those expectations have lodged themselves in our self judgements. There will be room to journal on 2024 and simply begin to feel into the energies of 2025. Of course there will be energy healing, fun music and allllll the other good stuff.

Home is wherever YOU are 🏠

Back when I was in college or even working for someone else I was really unafraid of sleeping in when I had the chance to.

Since becoming self employed there’s been this lingering fear, guilt… anxiety that if I didn’t DO enough then I wouldn’t ’make it’ —

Clearly that statement above is loaded with layers of feelings, doubts, the need for safety, etc.

There are times where I’ve had to get active in the analysis of the mindsets at play, but this season I’m in the blunt moment of… fuck it.

I walked into the beginning of my hibernation season with some rebellion, and now I sit here with satisfaction.

My past shows me that when I was able to offload my need of safety to a parent or an employer who set my schedule in some way, that I had a natural rhythm of allowing my own inner winter.

The moment I took on those responsibilities 100% for myself when I became self employed I allowed for the ‘mean boss’ version of myself to guilt me into shoulds, pressure, lack mentality and intensity.

I love that mean boss part of me because she really just wants me to be my version of successful. She knows I really do LOVE to do my work. She knows I have seasons of loving early morning wake ups and building…

But it’s not every season.

And the moment I said fuck it, the gratitude came in. This is exactly what I wanted when it was snowing in NYC and I had to take subways into Manhattan. This is exactly what I wanted when I had to walk through wind and ice in upstate NY to class. I wanted to say fuck it without some looming scary consequence.

I’m so grateful I figured out a way to give myself the winter I desire. And this year it’s apparently beginning with sparkly nails, sleeping past 8am, crafting most of the day in a nest on the floor and snuggling with Mike.

Hell ya to the fuck it moment. Let it bring you peace. Let yourself be buried under all the blankets. You deserve it.
